What is Federated Searching?

Printer Friendly Version

Welcome to the Delaware Library Catalog Federated Search! Federated searching is an important and useful technology for Delaware Library Catalog users. By typing your search subject in the available search bar, you will be able to search through multiple Delaware databases by performing only one search instead of having to search each database separately.

What is the benefit of searching databases?

Databases provide in-depth information that cannot be found by searches using Google and other internet search engines. Use of the Federated search tool allows you to search and access all of this rich information you cannot find on the Web. Federated searching is available by conducting a general search, which will search all of the databases. Or you may select which databases you would like to search by clicking in the box next to the database title.

The following databases are available within Federated Search:

Book Index with Reviews
Britannica Online
Britannica School Edition
EBSCO Animals
EBSCO Business Source Elite
EBSCO Consumer Health Complete
EBSCO MasterFile Premier
EBSCO Middle Search Plus
EBSCO Primary Search
EBSCO Regional Business News
Gale Virtual Reference Library
LitFinder
MEDLINE
ProQuest Newspapers
SIRS Discoverer
SIRS Knowledge Source
Student Resource Center
World Book Online

All Delaware databases are brought to you by the State of Delaware, Division of Libraries in partnership with your local library.
